Santa Barbara Castle in Alicante City

Alicante City, Spain. June 5, 2011. A couple stand on the highest point of the Santa Barbara Castle in Alicante City.  The castle was built during the 10th Century when Spain was still under Muslim rule, but was later conquered by King Alfonse X.   It is the main attraction and landmark in Alicante, and one of the largest castles in Spain. It stands on top of Mount Benacantil (166 m) overlooking Alicante City and the Mediterranean Sea.
