Playwright Nilo Cruz
September 23, 2011. Coral Gables, Fl. Nilo Cruz is a Cuban playwright living in Miami and New York. In 2003, his play Anna in the Tropics, won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. He was the first Latino to ever win the Pulitzer for Drama. When asked about his achievement, Cruz answered, "I never really thought about receiving any award. That wasn't my incentive, and I don't think it should be. I was completely emerged in my work, nothing else."
September 23, 2011. Coral Gables, Fl. The highly acclaimed playwright, Nilo Cruz held a workshop at the University of Miami on Friday. He gave students the opportunity to share their written work and tips on how to improve. "I never use the phrase 'writers block,' I call it 'searching,' instead."

Sophomore student, Annette Hammond presents her gratitude and esteem towards playwright, Nilo Cruz at the end of his workshop in the Theater Arts department at UM. Cruz is a well-known playwright that has taught at Yale, Brown, and Iowa University. 3 days before the workshop, he was offered to teach at Princeton University, "I am thrilled to start, this is such a privilege and honor."
